Description

The EDGE Project is a Youth Diversion Project. The Project team works with young people aged between 12 and 18 from the Garda Sub District of Carrick on Suir. Through the project young people are supported in all areas of their lives to make pro-social choices, with the aim of diverting them from involvement in anti-social behaviours, increasing civic responsibility and promoting belief in their future potential. The needs of participants are met through participation in various programs and activities.

Family Support works in partnership with family members; offering assistance with some of the challenges that family life, and parenting young people, can bring.

Each family is different, and therefore the interventions are varied and based on the individual needs and circumstances of your family.

We always start with a chat to see what you would like to gain from the service and what we can provide. This may be once off support, or can be ongoing, depending on what you identify as the needs at the time.

Here are some examples of what family support does…

  • Provides a space for family members to take time out, by giving support during times of stress.
  • Supports family members to engage effectively with their young people to facilitate positive behaviour change.
  • Provides information about, or, signposting to, other services for families.
  • Advocates for families by supporting them to get their views across if working with other services and agencies.
  • Sources speakers and plans events around topics identified as helpful.
  • Avails of recreational/social activities like cooking, relaxation and fitness.
  • Sources information on what is happening in the community for families
