TYRE Youth Justice Project (Tramore)
Tramore Community Care Centre
Pond Road, Tramore, Waterford. X91 YK70
The TYRE Project is a Garda Youth Diversion Project based in Tramore, Co Waterford. The TYRE Project is a community based, multi-agency, youth crime prevention initiative which primarily seeks to divert young people involved in criminal or anti-social behaviour away from the criminal justice system by providing suitable activities to facilitate personal development, promote civic responsibility and improve long-term employability prospects.
These activities may include Personal and Social development programmes, Substance misuse awareness programmes, Crime awareness Programmes, Educational support and recreational activities. The TYRE Project responds to the needs of the young person with the appropriate interventions.
The project primarily targets 12-17 year old “at risk” young people in communities where a specific need has been identified and where there is a risk of them remaining within the justice system. The project may also work with young people who are significantly at risk of becoming involved in criminal and anti-social behaviour.
