Applications are invited for the post of:

Community Drugs Worker

Clonmel Community Based Drugs Initiative | Full-Time | Funded by the HSE

To support individuals, families and communities to address and respond to issues related to substance misuse

Essential Requirements

  • Third level qualification in Youth & Community Work, Addiction, Health Promotion or related field
  • Own transport & full clean driving licence
  • Experience in community development approach
  • Knowledge of substance misuse & harm reduction

Desirable

  • Desire to empower individuals, reduce harm, and strengthen community resilience
  • Familiarity with intervention models (MI, CRA, SAOR)
  • Group facilitation skills & programme delivery
  • Skilled in capacity building & commitment to Volunteer Involvement

Key Competencies

  • Self-motivated & flexible with strong initiative
  • Excellent communication & organisational skills
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Experience working with volunteers & community groups
  • Awareness of drug-related issues in Ireland

Key Responsibilities:

Individual Supports

  • Brief interventions & needs-based support
  • 1-2-1 harm reduction & capacity building
  • Provide holistic interventions to reduce stress and support achievement of individual goals

Family Supports

  • One-to-one and Peer-led family supports
  • Support families to increase their capacity to manage well when dealing with issues in relation to substance misuse
  • Holistic stress-reduction interventions

Community Engagement

  • Drug education for at-risk individuals
  • Involve local adult volunteers, recognising their expertise and ensuring sustainability of service delivery long-term
  • Represent CBDI at community fora
