PRIDE@ WSTCYS
As PRIDE month comes to a close, we look back at the range of celebrations that took place across our WSTCYS services. Our organisation aims to be inclusive of everyone and to create a safe, welcoming place for all. The month of June kicked off with celebrations in Manor Street. Chillout, Manor Street CYP and Waterford Comhairle na nOg collaborated to host an open mic night for young people in our Youth Cafe. Saturday saw the Youth Pride Committee’s plans come to fruition with a carnival theme and a fantastic workshop, facilitated by local artist Caoilinn Hanton, as part of Cruinnui na nOg. Sunday was the Pride parade in Waterford City, with youth members serving as Grand Marshals.
Later in the month, Clonmel, Cahir and Dungarvan CYP’s came together to host their own Pride. This year, there was no local celebration; the members created their own!
‘Peace of Pride’ was designed by our members with lots of fun activities, games, and collaborative art pieces, with new friendships being formed across the three projects.
