Nature Connection in Finland
Youth Erasmus+ in Finland: Connecting Young People with Nature July 2026
MY CYP, Ballybeg CYP and Manor CYP came together to head to Finland as an opportunity for young people from different backgrounds and countries to come together, learn from one another, and experience a completely different environment and culture.
The trip focused on the use of nature and the outdoors as a way to support young people’s wellbeing, confidence and personal development. We spent time in forests, lakes and open spaces, making it the perfect setting for outdoor activities and learning.
Spending time outdoors gave young people a chance to disconnect from technology, reduce stress and improve their mental wellbeing. Activities included hiking, walking through forests, outdoor games, swimming and exploring the natural environment. This encouraged young people to be more active while also giving them time to relax and reflect.
Nature helps young people build important life skills, while working together during outdoor activities encourages communication, teamwork, leadership and problem-solving.
This Erasmus+ experience gave our people great memories, learning and most importantly, new connections. experience is not just about visiting Finland. It gave young people an opportunity to step outside our comfort zones, develop new skills and return home with experiences and ideas that can have a lasting impact. The young people enjoyed every moment and are extremely grateful for this opportunity, and encourage others to give it a try.
This project was made possible through Erasmus+ European Commission funding supported by Leargas.
