Here for Youth

Clonmel Pride

In celebration of “Pride Month”, the Clonmel Community Pride and the Clonmel Youth Information Centre came together to invite the young people from the Wilderness/Elm Park youth projects to design window displays for the Youth Information Centre, located in the centre of the town.

The art design was open to all young people and the project was carried out over two weeks. The young people engaged positively in this activity, and it gave them an opportunity to share their views and understanding of “Pride”.

The art pieces where later displayed and Eleanor (YIC) had a ceremony planned for the young people. Ger, from the Community Pride committee and a member from the An Garda Siochana, supported the event. The young people had a chance to chat with them and also with their club leaders. They were presented with goodie bags for their participation.

To finish off the summer and Pride celebrations, a BBQ was organised in the Wilderness. This was open to all young people from different projects. There was great attendance. Ger came equipped with banners and stickers that the young people gladly used for more art. But the spotlight was taken by the Garda Rainbow car.

Great involvement and fun was had by all!
