European Year of Youth Event
2022 is the European Year of Youth. Youth Information held a conference in City Hall, Waterford to highlight some of the fantastic young people in Waterford and slo highlighted the opportunities open to them. European MEP, Grace OSullivan, opened the event and spoke about how her decision to travel impacted her life decisions and highlighted the importance of Climate Justice. Some of the young people involved with WSTCYS spoke about their experiences
- Lauren Halley spoke on her time Volunteering in Manchester on the European Solidarity Programme
- Ashequallah Hussain spoke about adapting to life in Ireland from Afghanistan
- Etse & Grace from Waterford Comhairle na nOg updated everyone on their activities
- Tia Weldon spoke about her experience as an LGBT+ young woman in Waterford
- Louise Leen from Mount Sion CBS gave an overview of their involvement in the Erasmus+ program
- A panel of experts discussed the different programs available to young people – Declan O Driscoll, European Project Manager WSTCYS, Shane Hogan WSTCYS Erasmus+ particpant, Hugh Rodger EURES Employment Advisor & Nora Furlong Leargas Erasmus+ / ESC Trainer
The event was atteneded by over 100 young people from all over Waterford city.
