Here for Youth

Garda Youth Awards

Congrats to Michelle Phelan, a young person involved with the SWAY Project who won a Special Achievement Award at the National Garda Youth Awards, February 28th. Michelle, as the eldest of 6 has been a positive role model to her younger siblings, and to other young people in her group with the SWAY. She has contributed in many ways to her community and has spent time volunteering for St. Vincent De Paul as well as the St.Paul’s kids club. Although the odds were stacked against her, Michelle sat and passed her Leaving certificate during a particularly difficult time in her life which was a huge achievement for her. Michelle has since went on to further education where she one day hopes to open her own bakery. SWAY Project workers, the volunteer team and young people are very proud of Michelle who is very deserving of this award
