Here for Youth

Volunteer Awards Night

WSTCYS inaugural Volunteers awards took place on Thursday 26th January in Manor Street Youth Centre. There was a great buzz in the cafe where Volunteers from across the organisation gathered.

14 Volunteers were shortlisted from projects in Waterford city, Dungarvan and Clonmel. Eddie Daly, Naoise Obrien, Tom Kent, Katie Moore, Hayley Morrissey, Katy Fitzgerald, Lauren White, Shane Hogan, Anna Flaherty & Kieran Houlihan were shortlisted for Volunteer of the Year.

Anna Flaherty was presented with a Handmade Irish Glass Vase from Kite Designs as she was awarded Volunteer of the Year. Anna has been Volunteering for over 20 years and was described as always being there for others to listen, empathise and support, both in groups and outside of group.

Ceilinn O’Grady, Sarah Flynn, Darragh Bolger and Sarah Sheehan were nominated for Junior Volunteer of the Year.

Darragh Bolger was presented with the award for Junior Volunteer of the Year for their ability to be their true self and encourage and support other young people in issues affecting their lives.

This is the first year of the Volunteer awards and indicative of WSTCYS commitment to recognise the fantastic contribution made by each and every one of the Volunteers.
