Waterford Comhairle na nÓg

Its been a busy few weeks for Waterford Comhairle. On March 24th Our Chairperson, Etse Oshiogwemoh and assistant Youth Worker Simi Popolo were invited to a reception in City Hall with Prince Charles and Camila. Etse & Simi spoke with Camilla about the excellent work being done by young people locally.

On Saturday 26th 9 young people travelled to Dail na nOg in the Convention Centre.

OVER 200 young people from across Ireland tackled a wide range of issues under the overarching theme of equality at Dáil na nÓg 2022, which took place at Dublin’s Convention Centre yesterday (Saturday). This year, which marked the gathering’s 20th anniversary, discussed equality as young people, through their local Comhairle na Óg youth councils, have been investigating a variety of areas including mental health, climate change, body image, drugs and alcohol, youth facilities and LGBTIQ+.A panel discussion held yesterday saw Cllr Yemi Adenuga (FG), Ireland’s first black female elected representative, RTE Radio DJ and LGBTQI+ advocate Stephen Byrne, Children’s Rights Alliance CEO Tanya Ward, and Aoife Price, disability advocate with Disability Women Ireland, engage in a major discussion about equality.
